ADA: Nonnutritive Sweeteners, Fructose, and Other Aspects of Diet. Zachary T. Bloomgarden, MD. Two symposia at the American Diabetes Association (ADA) 70th Scientific Sessions, held on 25–29 June 2010, in Orlando, Florida, addressed aspects of the food industry's approach to satisfying the desire for sweets. One examined noncaloric/nonnutritive sweeteners and the other fructose, and a number of research presentations addressed other aspects of the relationship between diabetes and nutrition.
